Jazz camp will take place July 8 - 12, and runs from 9:00am to 12:00pm at Albemarle High School. This is open to any student in the area and is an awesome chance for kids from different schools to play in jazz groups together and work with some great clinicians! No jazz experience is required!
Students from beginner to advanced (grades 5-12) will be placed into one of four jazz bands based on experience. The students will have a chance to work with other students from schools in all of our surrounding counties. Students will learn songs, write music, and work on improvisation. There will be daily clinics and guest artist performances by some of the finest jazz musicians on the east coast! Some of our past clinicians include:
The camp will conclude with a noon performance at the Ting Pavilion on the downtown mall on the final day of the camp!
The camp is open to anyone on any instrument. The only requirement is that students have at least one year of playing experience on their instrument. (No jazz experience is required!) The cost of the camp is $150 per student. This cost covers the cost of instructors, guest artists, transportation to the friday concert, and the use of the Ting Pavilion.
