wind ensemble
The Wind Ensemble is the top Large Ensemble and requires an audition or the recommendation of the director to become a member. It rehearses and performs Band Repertoire in the 5-6 level of difficulty range. The wind ensemble performs 5 concerts per year.
Symphonic Band
The Symphonic Band is the intermediate Large Ensemble with student grades 9-12. The Symphonic Band rehearses and performs Band Repertoire in the 3-5 level of difficulty range. The Symphonic Band performs 2 concerts per year.
Jazz Lab
The Jazz Lab is a multipurpose jazz class at AHS. It is the entry level non-audition jazz group, as well as a focus on improvisation, style, and songwriting. This group performs a few times a year.
Jazz Ensemble
The Jazz Ensemble is an audition-only group that focuses on the performance, theory, and practice of Jazz and popular music. The Jazz Ensemble performs approximately 25 times throughout the year including regular concerts, special functions, dances, and jazz competitions.
Percussion ENsemble
The Percussion Ensemble class is comprised of all drummers grades 9-12. In this class percussionists work on technique and learn repetiore specific to the percussion world. Percussionists also learn music to play with the concert ensembles during this class. They perform at school concerts.
