Hello!
Wow! The Marching Patriots are fired up this season! You could feel the excitement in the air, you could hear how great the band is sounding and you could see the enjoyment in the faces of every student this past Friday night! The band performed the first movement of their Fall 2021 show and it is only going to get better as they continue to add the next two movements. Congratulations to all the students for their hard work over the past two weeks of band camp! It showed on Friday night just how much you all have put into this. Thank you to all the parent volunteers for showing up and helping out. There were some new twists this year and some new people doing new things, but everything worked out great. I really appreciate everyone's time and efforts to make the night go as smoothly as it did. SCHOOL STARTS MONDAY, AUGUST 23 Here is this week's rehearsal schedule: Monday ??? after school, 4pm-6pm Tuesday ??? before school, 7:45am-8:45am (On the field and ready to go at 7:45!) One of the highlights of the night for the students (and the band staff) was the return of PANCAKES! We missed them last spring during that marching season, but they are back for the 2021 Fall season. Thanks to Christy Ferguson for taking on the role of pancake coordinator! Christy and her team of volunteers dished up a lot of pancakes, all boxed up with butter and syrup for safety purposes. And they have introduced gluten-free pancakes as an additional option. Next Booster meeting The next meeting of the Boosters will be Tuesday, September 14 at 7pm in the Band Room. All are invited! See you Friday night! Tim

Hello everyone!
Thanks to all the parents that came out Friday evening to the parent’s meeting. It was an unusual setting, but I appreciate everyone taking the time to come out. This will be the first in what will most likely be a weekly email blast from me, with hopefully very useful information for everyone. There is a lot going on with the AHS Band Program and my hope is to keep you up to date as well as have a quick reference point to the calendar and events. If you ever need additional information, feel free to reach out and I will do the best to get back to you quickly. LAST WEEK OF BAND CAMP 2021 One week down and it is my understanding that the band has already learned the first movement music and drill (and will continue to fine tune it). For those that don’t know, there are 3 movements total in the show, titled “The Better to Hear You With”. There is a different schedule the second week, with AHS Open House on Thursday (camp ends at 5:00) and on Friday is the first game, with the students staying at the school through the game. MARCHING BAND FEES Last week, Mr. LaPrade handed out the marching band fee sheet. The sheet summarizes the fees involved with marching band and also includes the costs for Drillmaster shoes (if needed) and dinner before football games (if the students opts in). The sheet can also be found here: https://mcusercontent.com/2cd7a1be78c31262fb2a6e283/files/1cc0096a-8fbf-8410-6530-a34c5e752bfb/Marching_Band_Fees_2021.01.pdf Please be sure these fees are paid as soon as possible. Thanks! FIRST FOOTBALL GAME FEATURING THE AHS MARCHING PATRIOTS (with guest appearance by the football team) The first home football game of the season is Friday, August 20 at 7pm (the band will march into the stadium earlier, about 6:30). **NEW** Tickets for the game must be purchased online ahead of time. Individual game tickets can be purchased through the athletics site: www.albemarlepatriots.com . If you want to buy a season pass for all 6 home games, Mr. LaPrade has given the students a form to order them. Passes are $30 each. Additional forms are available in the band room and also online at the athletics page – please note on the form that your “student-athlete” is a marching band student-athlete. SCHOOL STARTS MONDAY, AUGUST 23 Once school starts, the following marching band rehearsal schedule will be in effect: Monday – after school, 4pm-6pm Tuesday – before school, 7:45am-8:45am Wednesday - after school, 4pm-6pm Thursday – before school, 7:45am-8:45am AND after school, 4pm-6pm Friday – IF NO GAME, before school, 7:45am-8:45pm. If there is a home game, the students will stay after school. CALENDAR In case you have not seen it or need it again, here is the band calendar for the year: https://mcusercontent.com/2cd7a1be78c31262fb2a6e283/files/093501b0-56da-893b-bcf5-e0c1efe7b83c/Band_Calendar_2021_2022.01.pdf BOOSTER SHOUT-OUT! The AHS Band Boosters is a volunteer organization that relies on YOU to help our students achieve more. On occasion, I like to call out some of those volunteers who step up and help out. This week, I want to recognize and thank our uniform closet organizers, Rebecca Engler and Cristi Raymond, for their efforts this past week to fit all the students for their uniforms. It is not a small task to get all these students measured and into a uniform – even more so when you’re doing it for the first time as the coordinators like these two volunteers. Also, thanks to the efforts of Rebecca, the uniforms got to the dry cleaner this summer so the uniforms are all ready to go for the season! THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND EFFORTS! VOLUNTEERS NEEDED Here are the Sign Up Genius links to volunteer to help out for football games and competitions. Football: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70A0D49ACAF28A6F58-ahsmarching2 Competitions: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70A0D49ACAF28A6F58-2021 We are still looking for volunteers for the following: *Treasurer - We need someone to keep the books! This person is responsible for keeping track of our bank accounts, writing checks, paying invoices, working with the Student Accounts person to make sure that the information is up to date, etc. *Coupon Book Fundraiser coordinator - We're planning on starting this fundraiser during the second week of marching band camp, the week of August 16. The coordinator will work with the band director to communicate the quantity of books needed to the vendor and then organize all the sales and payments by each student. *Secretary - We are in need of a Boosters Secretary, who will be able to attend the monthly Booster's meetings, take notes and keep track of what is going on. Thanks! Let me know if there are any questions. Tim |
