Competition week has finally arrived! It's a busy week with the unusual Thursday night game and a competition on Saturday. With a lot going on, there are a lot of details involved. Here they are! Rehearsal Schedule this week (slightly different than the norm!) Monday - afternoon Tuesday - morning Wednesday - afternoon Thursday - morning AND GAME NIGHT ??? Football vs. Monticello 7pm Friday - AFTERNOON 4pm-5:30pm Saturday - Hermitage Competition (see details below) First competition - Hermitage Location: Hermitage High School, 8301 Hungary Springs Road, Henrico Schedule for the day: 9:30am ??? Rehearsal on the Main Field 12:30pm ??? Eat/Pack/Load 2:00 ??? Depart for Hermitage 3:30pm ??? Arrive at Hermitage 4:25pm ??? Warm Up Time 4:55pm - Travel to the field 5:05pm ??? Gate 5:10pm ??? The Better to Hear You With 6:00pm ??? Pack Up and Return to Stadium 8:20pm ??? Awards Ceremony 8:45pm ??? To the Bus 9:00pm ??? Return to AHS 10:30pm- Arrive at AHS and Unload (time is approximate) 11:00pm ??? Dismissal (time is approximate) There is usually a small entrance fee for spectators to see the competition. I am not sure what that amount is for this competition. But come out and cheer for our Marching Patriots! Weather looks like it will be a beautiful afternoon in Richmond. Volunteer! Competition Double Header ??? Monticello (State Assessment) and Powhattan Fundraiser! Coupon Books Today kicks off the Attractions Coupon Book fundraiser. We???re running this for 3 weeks. Books are $25 each. Credit for each student to their band account for each book they sell. This is a popular item in our community so this one should be easy for each student to get out there and sell to their friends and neighbors. Booster Shout-out This year???s show contains several props. One prop has not yet been seen in performance but will be on the field this week, with a big thanks to Paul Seehaver! Paul is the grandfather to two of our Marching Patriots (Aiden and Leo Carter) and we thank him for taking the time to build this new prop to help our show! See everyone Thursday at the game! Tim

If you attended this past week's football game (great OT win by the football team!), you could feel the cool air of the fall creeping in and you could see the halftime show taking shape - now with 2 of the 3 movements being performed. It is looking to be a great show! Make sure you don't miss it and show up for the next game, of which there is an important announcement about... DATE CHANGE FOR MONTICELLO FOOTBALL GAME Due to UVa having a game on Friday night, a decision was made to move the game up a night to THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 23. As of this moment, the game is still scheduled to start at 7pm (we will update you if there are any changes to that night's schedule). For those of you that have already volunteered for the previous date, please update your sign up if you are not able to make it to the new night. We all understand if you need to make a change, but please update it as soon as possible so that we can find others to fill those spaces. Thank you! At this week's football game, we had a lot of trouble with our 4-wheeler we use to move equipment around. A big Booster Shout Out to Scott & Jessica Wiseman and Rick Morris, who all helped to bring battery jump kits to the school after my begging pleas over text - including the Wiseman's getting one for the band so that we always have one on hand. Thank you to each of you for helping out. Additional thanks to the Pit Crew parents who helped keep my sanity by helping get the equipment to where it needed to go. It seems strange to me that we're only one week into the school year, but have had 2 football games already! Another great performance from the Marching Patriots this past Friday night (and from the Football Team as well!), as the band continues to work to fine tune their show. Make sure you check it out this next Friday, as the next home game isn't until September 24. Thank you to all the volunteers this week for helping out in various ways to support our students. It definitely was a hot evening! For this week... We are still in need of someone to take on the treasurer role. Kim has been kind enough to continue on, but it would be really helpful if someone could volunteer to help take this role on. Please let me know if you are interested. Booster Shout out! Big shout out to our food guru, Carrie Eisenberg, as well as to Anne Etten who is assisting her this year. There is a lot of work and coordination to be sure that the students get fed before every game (and soon for competitions). Carrie has been handling the coordination of the food for several years now and we appreciate it! Thank you both for ensuring these students get something to eat!
